Transportation Assistance
Transportation Assistance supports an individual in accessing the people, places, and opportunities that are important to them. Whether attending medical appointments, grocery shopping, participating in community activities, visiting friends and family, or pursuing personal goals, we provide support that promotes independence, choice, and community involvement.
Individuals receive assistance with planning transportation, navigating community resources, and developing the skills needed to travel confidently and safely. For example, a person may receive support getting to a doctor's appointment, shopping for groceries, attending a job interview, participating in a recreational class, or meeting friends for a community event.
Individuals are supported in learning how to use buses, trains, rideshare services, and other transportation options through hands-on public transit training tailored to their goals, preferences, and comfort level.
Individuals may practice reading schedules, planning routes, purchasing fare, identifying landmarks, and safely navigating their communities until they feel comfortable traveling more independently. Through reliable and respectful support, individuals can maintain routines, participate in meaningful activities, strengthen community connections, and enjoy greater freedom to pursue the life they choose.
